Bishop Colts' in 9 Try Blitz
Won 53 - 19
Bishop Auckland Under 18 Colts won their home league match against Workington by 53 - 19, scoring a total of 9 tries.

Bishops' opened the scoring when centre Adam Laws sublime handling fed full back Zac Hole to score a try and finish off an excellent move involving Tom Burn and Brodie Palmer. Burn was successful with the conversion. The home side extended their lead when No8 James Greathead ripped the ball from an opponent and sprinted 80 metres to score his try.

Bishop's forwards continued to drive at the visitors, led by Chris Morrell, Michael Beech and Mark Moore. Skipper Burn was then on hand to receive Stefan Lawson's excellent pass and score under the posts. He then converted the extra points. Again Bishops' forwards drove towards Workington's line and prop Moore picked up and forced his way over for a well deserved try.

At the start of the second half, Workington reduced the deficit with a converted try, but when Bishop were awarded a penalty, fly half Burn took a quick tap and dived over for his second try. Hooker Andrew Reilly, who was outstanding throughout the game, took a short pass from scrum half Stephen Roe and outpaced Workington's defence to score his try.

Bishops' next points came when again Burn and Palmer combined well to supply the ball to winger Arron Briddick. He then outpaced the covering defence to score a try in the corner. An excellent kick from Zac Hole extended the lead further. Workington never gave up and scored another try.
Bishop's replied immediately with a second try from Greathead, which was converted by Laws and a further try from Prop Daniel Larn who forced his way over from close range.

Workington then scored another try, but Bishops finished the match off as convincing winner, 53 points to 19.

Under 15s Lose at Seaton Carew

Seaton Carew U15 46 Bishop Auckland U15 10
For the second week running, Bishop U15s travelled to the coast, this time to play Seaton Carew. Alec Clarey started the game at prop with Thomas Moss moving into the back row. Bishop looked good in the early stages and were pressing when Seaton stole the ball and covered most of the field to score. Two further tries quickly followed and Bishop had their backs to the wall. The larger Seaton pack also dominated around the edges of the rucks. Good tackling by Sean and Chris Griffiths stopped a number of tries whilst David Nelson did good work all over the pitch. Two more Seaton tries followed before Clarey took the ball, together with about 5 defenders 20 m before stretching to just touch down. The half-time score was 29 - 5 to the hosts.

Things improved for Bishop in the second half, with Sam Heslop and James Wood making their presence felt in attack and defence. Good work in the centres by Callum Knight and Thomas Briggs saw a try for Briggs in the corner. Dean Smith, Jonathan Miller, Jordan Wilson and Jonathan Poulter all worked hard in the forwards while Charlie Wilkinson battled away behind a retreating pack and Stephen Cummins put in some good tackles. The final score was 46 - 10 to Seaton Carew.

Under 9's away Barnard Castle
After half the team had been training with the Falcons during the week it was time to put it to the test, and what better test than a game against Barnard Castle. Again myself and Gary were more than happy to see we had a squad of 13 players, as for Barnard Castle they had secured the services of three members of the under 10's to give then a squad size of 10. So we agreed that we would have one game of 15 mins each way, this lead to a very competitive first half that saw excellent tackling, individual runs from both side giving a score of 4 tries each at half time. Then we saw the best Rugby that Bishop under 9's have produced, they took over the second half with outstanding support for each and every member of the team, playing as members of a team, outstanding support on every move. This lead to a final score of 10 tries to 5 in Bishop Auckland's favour. Again well done to the whole team, please be aware of how well you all played today as one team.

Barnard Castle v Bishop Auckland
Another great turn out from the minis as we travelled to Barnard Castle. Although the opposition could only turn out one team of six players this did not dampen the very high spirits of the Bishop players.

This week the players were mixed in each age group, as ever the most important thing every player who turned up got a game, gave their all and played very well.

We had a fantastic performance from Zacs younger brother Leo who came on for the very first time and scored a great try. His first competitive game for the minis, well done.

The teams: Ryan, William, Luke, Andrew, Liam, James
James S. Zac, Max, Kai, Craig, Leon

A big thank you to all the parents, grandparents etc who once again gave up their Sunday morning to ensure Bishop Auckland Minis were well supported.
Thank you to our hosts Barnard Castle.
